Converting the digital strips to frames
I have browsed the Internet to find a software to do this, without results. This is the reason I started developing 8mm2avi software.
A fully automatic procedure seems difficult, a very good algorithm would be needed to identify the frame borders inside the strip with low percentage of error. I decided to adopt a semi-automatic procedure, where you have to position manually the selection rectangle on the first and the last frame, and the software does the rest. 8mm2avi also offers some facilities to manage the selection rectangle and to optimize its position by zooming, scrolling up and down etc.
What is important with 8mm2avi is that you can do the conversion just after the strip acquisition, so you save the time to open again the (big) file. I don’t know any software that integrates this feature. Of course the file names of the frames are also generated automatically.
